Is white considered a printing color?

With CMYK printing, white would typically be the material being printed on as white is not not a color being printed. Thus to get white, no colors would be printed and you would see the material/paper color underneath.

In other printing methods to print white, perhaps on a dark paper either a spot color or a white foil would typically be used or silk screened on depending on the material being applied to.
